Easter Afterglow

Posted by Terry Crist On April - 15 - 2009

Today is the Wednesday following Easter and I’m still basking in an Easter afterglow. It isn’t because of a sustained sugar rush from the countless malted ball Easter eggs I ate last weekend–although that would be justifiable. I’m pumped because of the glimpses of the resurrection we saw in our weekend worship experiences! Christ is risen and the evidence of that powerful reality is seen in the lives that are still being changed by His grace 2000 years after the first Easter morning.

Judith and I would like to express our deepest thanks to all those who served so faithfully and tirelessly last weekend. For those who care about the stats…here is the bottom line. We had almost 7000 people on both of our campuses with approximately 242 people accepting the risen Christ as Savior and Lord!

Assorted Urgent Updates

Posted by Terry Crist On November - 1 - 2008

I’ve spent the past few days in the cold forests of Northern Canada and I’ve just returned to blazing heat of the beautiful Southwest. There is nothing like 90 degree weather to set the mood for Halloween! I’m just about to get accustomed to the pint sized trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood in costumes with shorts on!

In light of everything that is going on in our church and nation, I want to share a couple of quick updates.

Our miracle offering has now reached a grand total of $760,000 + in cash and short term pledges. Please join me in praying for God to bless those who have made short term pledges so they can honor their commitment. As the old cliché goes…”If God can get it through you, He has promised to get it to you.”

The Children’s Ministry Center in Scottsdale is being built at a record pace. I’ve spent the past two decades developing land and building campuses for the churches I’ve pastored (along with my own personal ventures) and I’ve never seen anything quite like this. The pace is going to fast because the market is stalled and laborers are eager to work. (See pictures below.) Please continue to pray for our fundraising efforts as we have another $400,000 to go in order to build this addition debt-free.

Finally, as we all know, the election is this coming Tuesday. In spite of what you may be hearing on the news, this election is not over and your vote still matters. In addition to the hotly contested presidential race, we have a number of important local issues on the ballot that demand your participation. Among those is Prop 102. Please say “yes” to the Biblical definition of marriage. This weekend we will be announcing special prayer meetings for the election.

Speaking of Prop 102, in spite of the overwhelming support I’ve received for addressing this issue in our weekend services, I’ve still had a few people question why we are taking this moral stand. And I will address those reasons in my next post.

I love you all and can’t wait to worship with you this weekend!
